Do we have a shared definition of what code is? When Boris Cherney says “Code is solved” When Boris Cherny says “Coding is Practically Solved”. I think he’s clearly operating at the opposite end of the spectrum from Mitchell Hashimoto saying “I’ve always personally defined the “as code” suffix in “X as Code” to mean “a system of principles or rules”. This is in contrast to the popular interpretation of “as code” to mean “as programming.”
But one of the reasons Mitchell Hashimoto’s argument works is because there are specs by which to generate infrastructure from. Bash, Terraform, maybe just raw json. It’s not that infrastructure is a “programming langauge” but a parseable universally agreed upon spec language.
